In a captivating interview with Guillaume Broche, director Naoki Hamaguchi shared insights into this decision-making process. While it was tempting to adjust Cloud’s sword for a more realistic portrayal, Hamaguchi emphasized that its iconic status made change unthinkable. “If we’d made it just a regular old sword, players wouldn’t accept it.” The choice to stay true to the original design was affirmed by the game’s widespread acclaim.
“We stayed faithful to the OG,” Hamaguchi concluded, noting the positive reception from both longtime fans and new players.

Hamaguchi also provided updates on the anticipated Final Fantasy Remake Part 3. He revealed that the core gameplay is nearly complete, with the team now focusing on refinement. Although eager for fans to experience the latest chapter, Hamaguchi stressed the importance of meticulous crafting to ensure a satisfying release.
Additionally, he highlighted the significance of “Highwind” as a pivotal theme in the upcoming installment, hinting at new gameplay experiences and expanded scale.
