Call of Duty 2025 Rumour About Battle Pass-Locked Limited-Time Modes Debunked

Recent claims suggesting that Call of Duty 2025 would lock limited-time modes (LTMs) behind battle passes have been confirmed to be false. This information update puts to rest concerns that had begun circulating within the gaming community.

The original rumour had suggested a significant change to how Call of Duty would handle its special events. According to the now-debunked leak, Activision was purportedly planning to restrict access to seasonal LTMs exclusively to players who purchased the battle pass. This would have marked a substantial shift from the current model where all players can participate in special events regardless of whether they’ve purchased premium content.

Under the existing system, all Call of Duty players have access to limited-time modes and events, with the option to purchase a premium track to earn additional items and skins. The false report had claimed that starting with Call of Duty 2025, these premium tracks would be eliminated and their rewards incorporated into the standard battle pass.

Had this change been implemented, the value proposition of the battle pass would have increased, but players who chose not to purchase it would have seen their gaming experience potentially diminished by losing access to special events. For example, the current High Art event featuring Seth Rogen would have been accessible only to those who paid for the battle pass, rather than being available to everyone as it is now.

What We Know About Call of Duty 2025

Last month, separate information emerged suggesting that Call of Duty 2025 will be Black Ops 7, featuring a narrative that continues from Black Ops 2 and reunites fan-favourite characters Woods and Mason. This campaign is said to feature four-player cooperative gameplay and an open-world map. The leak also indicated that Treyarch is developing the next instalment in the blockbuster first-person shooter franchise. Reports suggesting a Black Ops 2 sequel first appeared in late 2023.

In recent Call of Duty news, Warzone saw the return of the popular Verdansk map, which helped the game achieve a record number of concurrent players on Steam for this year so far. Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 3 Reloaded recently launched in May, introducing three new multiplayer maps: Haven, Signal, and Blazetown.
